DEADLINE FOR FEBRUARY: 18TH JANUARYDEAR FRIENDSThese building are steeped in the hearfelt faith and prayers of past village inhabitants, who loved them, cared for them and worshipped God in them week by week, season by season, year after year. The church symbolises so much more than the life of each individual worshipper. It is the solid representation of a collective spiritual reality and legacy that has been embedded in our culture and society for over 2000 years. It represents the core values we try to live by, and which we teach our children to live by values which include kindness, honesty, compassion, forgiveness, generosity, justice, courage, perseverance, service and truth. These are some of the aspects and attributes of Christian faith which we try to live out in our everyday lives. An active and welcoming church is relational in its vision, hospitality and mission. The church is ALL about relationships - our relationship with God, with each other and with the wider creation of which we are an integral part. We are responsible for and dependent on one another as well as every aspect of Creation which surrounds and sustains us through God%u2019s Love and Grace. Here in Scan my hope has always been that our churches grow to encourage and enable EVERYONE to flourish, feel welcome and completely at home in each of our buildings. Not just at services, weddings, baptisms and funerals but at all times, day to day, season by season, year on year. You may step inside the doors to join us for coffee and cake, a hearty breakfast, hot soup and bread, carol singing and mince pies, the pancake party or various other occasions to talk, laugh and share companionship and warmth.Or you may step inside at other times alone - seeking silence and solace, peace and healing or spiritual comfort in some form or other. Our buildings are here as a resource for all who come, for whatever reason. They exist to be used to be vibrant %u2018lived in%u2019 places, not in a residential sense but in the sense of a spiritual home; a hub of welcome, hospitality and wellbeing for the extended family of God.Church is for all of us forever - not just for Christmas!May the Blessings of Peace, Love and Joy surround you this Christmastide. Revd. Coralie.
