PAGE 21This is my last contribution to SCAN magazine for 2025, and I hope that you have found odd bits from my writing that interests you. I always appreciate information from others such as Michael%u2019s report about his exhibition which you can read below.Chicheley is the smallest of SCAN Parish villages with a church, pub and Village Hall all of which provide a central hub around building and nurturing a community, of which you will read more below. The beauty of these magazines is that you can read about a great variety of events and happenings in our SCAN Parishes, you don%u2019t need a computer or access to the internet to do that, you can pass it on to others but, perhaps most importantly, it all happens because people volunteer to do things and it is free. Having made that little statement we will now move on to Michael%u2019s report and other items. On Saturday, 18th. October, I held my annual exhibition of hobbies and collections; the exhibitors are all friends of mine that I have met when I go to steam and vintage rallies. There were eight exhibits in the hall and two outside. I displayed my radiocontrolled digger, together with my two new items, a six-wheel drive tipper and a four-wheel loader. Graham displayed his fantastic Micro Lego models including Big Ben, and the Titanic complete with iceberg.New exhibitors, Mick and Lil, put on a fantastic display of gollies including dolls, thimbles and Robertson%u2019s marmalade memorabilia. Another first-time exhibitor was Kyle; he put on a display connected to the Boot and Shoe industry; there%u2019s a connection with Olney there.Phil displayed. excellent Technic-Lego models. Roger put on his usual display of hand-built vehicles connected to the transport industry. My son, Gordon, displayed farm tractors and implements, many with a connection to Rogers of Sherington and Coopers of Newport Pagnell. Also, outside, was Gordon%u2019s Land Rover %u2013 many of you might remember Gordon having a Land Rover on our front garden, all in pieces and then being rebuilt by Gordon. When he moved away from Chicheley, he sold the Land Rover but always regretted it and said if he got the chance to buy it back, he would do so, and 17 years later it made a return to Chicheley.PAGE 21
