PAGE 22Another new exhibit was displayed by Grant and Jen; Grant makes very unusual models from scrap items and bits of metal; his wife Jen displayed lace making %u2013 again with a close connection with Olney. One more exhibit outside was a Hawker Hunter jet cockpit owned by Tony, who also gave us a donation of %u00a3100, a very big thank-you Tony. The exhibition raised a total of %u00a3325 of which the village hall has received %u00a3165 and %u00a3160 has been given to SSAFA, The Soldier, Sailors and Airforce Families Association charity. Many thanks to all of the exhibitors who put on a tremendous show; it is a pity that we do not have more support but thankyou to all who did come and have a look. A big thank-you to all who helped me: David on the pay desk, Brian, Anne-Marie and Thelma in the kitchen, also Felicity, Thelma, Karen and Anne-Marie for the cakes etc., I must not forget Gordon S. who helped me to set up the tables. Apologies if I have forgotten anybody.MichaelYou may have heard the words Community Cohesion coupled with Warm Spaces but what in practice does that really mean? Recently Milton Keynes Council approached Chicheley Parish Meeting with the offer of a grant of %u00a3500 that could be awarded for any initiatives that could meet that objective. The offer was accepted, and Chicheley Village Hall committee have volunteered to organise how this will be spent for the benefit of our villagers and those who support our activities. After some discussion it was decided that the three months after Christmas would be a good period to target, but how best to do that. Taking the words community and warmth as the guide, it was decided to hold a light lunch on one Saturday in each of January, February and March. This would be a simple meal of soup, bread and cheese and perhaps a few biscuits. Nothing too fancy, but with the added pleasure of meeting your neighbours and friends in a nice warm environment. Perhaps the most important part of this is that it will cost you NOTHING as the cost for providing this will be taken from the Grant. Forthcoming EventsThe next Chich Chats will be held from 10.30 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, December 9th and Tuesday, January 13th in the village hall.Christmas Carol Service - Sunday, December 21st at the church of St. Lawrence at 4p.m. Seasonal refreshments will be served after the service.Thursday, December 25th - The Christmas Day service at Chicheley will be at 11a.m. On Saturday, January the 24th. 2026 a supper will be held in Chicheley Village Hall to celebrate Rabbie Burns.
