PAGE 30Newport Pagnell Transport - Oct. 21st50 Members & Friends turned out to hear Jesse Line give a very entertaining talk covering the history of vehicles produced in Newport Pagnell, from the 1830s from Salmons and Sons in the 1830s to Aston Martin in 2007.The highlight was the Aston Martin V8 Volante, accompanied by display boards of early concept and styling drawings, small models and personal souvenirs from his time at the Newport Works. After paying for the hall rental the Society donated %u00a3280 to Willen At Home. Thanks to all who supported this great cause.%u201cWorking With The Artist%u201d %u2013 Nov 18thThe artist Charlotte Howarth visited the coffee morning at the church in early November to meet and chat with villagers about the art project which will be a stone piece with carved images and lettering. She met informally over tea and cake with the SHS Committee. Charlotte is consulting widely across the village on ideas for appropriate imagery and words that reflect the heritage of Sherington. She is also trying to finalise the (best available) site for the location for the work. The Historical Society invited members to meet Charlotte in the Village Hall on 18th from 7:30. This was preceded by a meeting with the artist and the Woman%u2019s Institute (WI) who had gathered in a number of written responses to support with the images and text. The site for the artwork should be decided in the coming weeks and the block of stone placed on order. The final installation must be in place by end 2026. There will be a lot of work finalising the text and images. Please keep an eye out for more consultations.December 16th Members Social Get Together - %u201cWine & Cheese evening%u201d Join us at the Village Hall for some convivial conversation, festive fun and some Christmas carols.https://www.mkheritage.org.uk/sherington/
