PAGE 25Back to more regular issues - don%u2019t forget you%u2019re entitled to benefit from the ongoing Institute subsidy scheme, funded by the PC. It means that if you%u2019re organising a function or event to which anyone in the Parish is invited (such as a craft or jumble sale, an activity class or a club) you get free use of the Institute (up to a maximum each year). Lots of use is already made of this scheme - why not try it yourself if you organise this sort of event?Well, with the countdown to Christmas already started, please make sure you%u2019ve got the 19th of December in your diary for this year%u2019s Carols by the Lychgate which will be followed by the Lights for a Loved One. It%u2019s a wonderful village get together and it all starts at 5.30pm on the Waste Ground. We aim to undertake our Biennial parish survey in January 2026. This survey asks a series of questions to allow us to understand what you, our residents, think about the work that the PC does. It also asks you to prioritise which type of issues you feel we should put most focus on. This survey allows us to understand a wider perspective and will form the basis of our planned activities over the next couple of years. We still have a vacancy for a Parish Councillor - and when I leave the PC in December this year that will create another vacancy. As a Councillor you only need to commit to attending the meetings which last for a couple of hours once a month - that%u2019s it!! Two hours of your time once a month to help keep our village thriving and cared for - that%u2019s all we%u2019re asking for. Naturally some Councillors are happy to give far more time (and regularly do) - but that%u2019s a personal choice, not an expectation. Your village cannot function properly without a PC - and the PC cannot continue without volunteers to run it. Please come and join us! Well with Halloween and %u201cFireworks night%u201d around the corner it really feels Autumnal and it%u2019s a great time to get out and walk our many footpaths if you%u2019re able. They are (mostly) kept in excellent condition and provide many miles of beautiful walking straight from your doorstep. Don%u2019t forget we have our own Footpath Officer, Terry Smith, so if you spot a problem or a broken style just let us know and Terry will liaise with MKCC to get things sorted.
